In praise of the human experience

When God presented His plan for our salvation, a huge part of it was creating an earth for us to have a "lab" experience or field trip.  A huge part of that creation was the creation of a body that we would use while on this earth.  If we could learn to use this body in the way our Heavenly Father instructed us, we would be able to have an even better version of that body.

When this plan was presented to us, we shouted for joy!  It sounded like a great experience for us to have.  God thought of everything- giving us power to choose, a Savior to act as a safety net as we learn to make choices, etc.  A third of the entire host of heaven rejected this plan and therefore, did not get to experience the mortal body.  So many wonderful things about the body!  So many hard challenges with the body!  Reading about it is always easier than actually doing it!  It reminds me of this song from the Disney movie "Frozen".

In Summer

The human body is just simply amazing!  I have been through the Bodies exhibit a couple times and it showcases the different systems in the body.  By the time you are at the end, everyone is silent in awe of the miracle of the human body.  It does so much that we don't even realize.  Just think of some of the million things you can do with a body:  hugs, crying, jumping, sitting, dancing, eating, walking, laughing, dressing up, holding hands, give birth, and the list literally goes on and on and on.

Last weekend, I watched two of my daughters run a marathon.  They finished the 26.2 miles.  I was amazed at that they were able to stretch the limits of their  body in this way.  Like I said, amazing.  Just think of the Five Senses: Hearing, Seeing, Touching, Smelling, Tasting. Those 5 abilities are worth the experience right there!

Here is just a sampling:

Well, you get the idea. The body and all you can experience with it is just plain AMAZING! Then, again. There is the downside: You get sick, fall down, get bruised, break a leg, experience pain, vomit, dizziness, have to get glasses, can't hear well, and the list literally goes on and on and on and on. These are things we experience with out bodies too, and it is part of the experience. If you feel great all the time, how much will you appreciate it if you haven't experienced anything else? Anyway, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Having a body is an astonishing, astounding, surprising, bewildering, stunning, shocking, startling, breathtaking experience!! Thanks Heavenly Father!
