December 31–January 6. We Are Responsible for Our Own Learning
We are responsible for our own learning, for our own testimonies.
The parable of the sower. Matthew 13:1–23
You will get out of this whatever effort you put in.

“We counsel parents and children to give highest priority to family prayer, family home evening, gospel study and instruction, and wholesome family activities. However worthy and appropriate other demands or activities may be, they must not be permitted to displace the divinely appointed duties that only parents and families can adequately perform” (“Letter from the First Presidency,” Liahona, Dec. 1999, 1).

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
What are some things that could stop us from getting the most out of this?
1- Distraction
2- Not having a plan
3- Not giving the consistent time and effort
4- Giving up too easily
5- Making other things in our lives a higher priority.
This talk by Boyd K. Packer on Reliance has so many good points. Even though he gave this talk at BYU in 1975, there is still so much that is relevant.
